The World Press Photo Exhibition on Southbank

The World Press Photo Exhibition is an annual photo contest that rewards photographers for the best single exposure pictures that have contributed to the past year of visual journalism. The World Press Photo Foundation was formed in 1955 by a group of Dutch photographers who organised a contest to expose their work to international colleagues. Today’s winner’s photos are now shown worldwide in 100 cities and 45 countries reaching a global audience of 4 million people. For a chance to have a look at some spectacular award-winning photography, then head to the Royal Festival Hall on Southbank for the last opportunity to see it this weekend.

The EY Exhibition: Impressionists in London in Millbank

The current exhibition being showcased at Tate Britain is greatly recommended for admirers of the impressionist movements. The EY Exhibition is the first of its kind to map the connections between French and British artists, patrons and art dealers between 1870 and 1904, a traumatic period in French history. Highlighting their relationship with British culture, traditions and social life, these artworks show a fascinating insight into how London was perceived by the visiting French artists of the period. To see some of the most captivating works by Monet, Tissot, Pissarro and their compatriots, head to the Tate Britain this weekend. Only a very short walk from our Westminster office, if you’re interested in looking at properties to rent or properties to buy in the area, feel free to drop in and hello to our team who would be happy to help.

Vauxhall Winter Village in Vauxhall

As the winter months set in, sunglasses and sandals are replaced with woolly hats and downy coats. In keeping with this seasonal theme, the Vauxhall Street Food Garden of the summer has been replaced by the Vauxhall Winter Village for the second year running after popular demand. This venue turns into an Alpine wonderland with log cabins, retro ski wear, cable car photo booths as well as a winter sports bar that will be serving delicious hot food such as fondue and roasted chestnuts and lots of warm drinks such as alcoholic eggnog, hot chocolate and mulled wine. If festive food and drink isn’t quite your thing, they will also have oriental fine foods and jerk chicken as well as other stalls available on the day. Not far from our Kennington office, drop in and say hello if you’re keen to find out more about properties to rent or properties to buy in the surrounding area.

The Suppliant Women Play in Southwark

If you’re thinking about heading to the theatre this weekend, then consider heading to see The Suppliant Women at the Young Vic in Southwark. Written 2,500 years ago, one of the world’s oldest plays speaks to us through the ages with startling resonance for our troubled times. Fifty women leave everything behind to board a boat in North Afice and flee across the Mediterranean. They are escaping from forced marriage and seeking protection and asylum in Greece. Directed by Ramin Gray, this play featuring a chorus of local women from London, unearths an electric connection to the deepest and most mysterious ideas of humanity. When everything goes wrong, who will take us in?

If you’re interested in finding out more about future events in Westminster, London, Kennington and the surrounding areas, feel free to drop by any of our offices – we’ll be glad to provide you with a list.
