World Photography Awards Exhibition

For all those budding photographers, contemporary photography is returning once again to Somerset House this weekend with the 2018 Sony World Photograph Awards Exhibition. Featuring inspiring works from more than 600 artists, the exhibition will showcase shortlisted works from winners of this prestigious award. The images that have been carefully chosen from a record-breaking number of submissions, will cover a wide variety of themes and genres including architecture, landscape, street photography, wildlife, portraiture and travel. The exhibition will also include an exclusive selection of unique works by a renowned international artist who will win the celebrated Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award. Concrete Dreams Weekend on Southbank

This weekend, the Southbank Centre will be paying homage to the rich and varied history is it’s 1960s buildings. The halls and foyers of Queen Elizabeth Hall will showcase music, dance and literature all linked to the building’s 50-year history. From urban dance performances to a celebration of five decades of poetry, classical Indian music and contemporary dance there will be plenty of things for you to watch and become a part of the dynamic history of these venues. This weekend also accompanies the Concrete Dreams Exhibition. This is a unique experience that leads you through the radical heritage of the 1960s buildings by bringing to life the story of their art and architecture. Head a long to the Southbank this weekend for this free event.

Spring Plant Fair in Lambeth

The Garden Museum in Lambeth will be holding their annual garden fair, which is the first of the season in London. Bringing together the best nurseries from across Britain, they will be selling specialist plants and flowers in the Museum’s Nave Space as well as outside, in the Christopher Bradley-Hole designed front garden. No matter how much space you have, whether it be a garden, balcony or allotment there will be plants and garden ephemera aplenty to suit. This is also a great opportunity to talk to the experts who will be exhibiting and who will happy to share their advise and expertise with you. Tickets to the fair cost £5 and also include entry to the Museum’s galleries and current temporary exhibitions including Cedric Morrison: Artist Plantsman. Embassy Gardens Market in Nine Elms

EcoWorld Ballymore is collaborating with Shepherds Market (the organisers of well-known markts such as the Duke of York Square’s Saturday market) to bring you the new Embassy Gardens Market. This is a new street market at Embassy Gardens’ New Union Square in Nine Elms which will showcase a sumptuous selection of artisanal food and drink from some of London’s finest vendors. Open from 10am – 5pm every last Saturday of the month this market will champion local producers of fine food and drink and will be an opportunity for you to support small producers, start-up businesses and farmers.

Uniqlo Tate Lates on Bankside

Every last Friday of the month Uniqlo and Tate Modern bring you Tate Lates where you can find emerging and established DJ’s alongside world-class exhibitions, pop-up talks, hands-on workshops as well as delicious food and drink. This month Uniqlo Tate Lates will be celebrating creativity in learning, both within the museum and beyond its boundaries. There will be music from DJ’s Lizza, Organ Tapes and Tommy Gold as well as Baadnews, Derrick Gee and Janie Jones. There will also be various talks on including one called Industry Creativities and a workshop on How To Be An Artist. There will be plenty to explore this Friday night so head down to the Tate Modern to see it come to life at night.
