Invisible Superheroes Exhibition in Westminster

The Institution of Civil Engineers is celebrating it’s 200th anniversary this year and to honour this, they have put on a special year-long exhibition which focusses on the role civil engineers play in transforming lives and safeguarding our future. Invisible Superheroes at One Great George Street, will focus on the unsung heroes behind some of the world’s most amazing engineering projects and using state of the art technology, the exhibition will bring to life some of the best examples of civil engineering that will help to inspire the next generation of engineers. Drag: Self Portraits & Body Politics Exhibition in South Bank

Drag: Self Portraits & Body Politics is a free exhibition that has come to the Hayward Gallery, which features the work of more than 30 artists who have used drag to explore or question identity, gender, class and politics. The exhibition also includes self-portraits by a younger generation of contemporary artists who have recently embraced drag as an art form, including Adam Christensen and Victoria Sin. This exhibition aims to present a multitude of voices that explore cultural shifts of the past 50 years and touch on topics that include the 1980s AIDS crisis and post-colonial theory. Focused on photography but spanning a variety of other media, DRAG is accompanied by a programme of tours led by drag performers.

Fun Home Play in Waterloo

This weekend is your last opportunity the 5 time Tony Award winning Broadway version of Alison Bechdel’s graphic novel, Fun Home. Based around 3 distinct stages of Alison’s life: memories of her 1970’s childhood in a funeral home, her college love life and her coming out all collide in this story. Looking back at her complex relationship with her father, Alison discovers her and her father had more in common with each other than she ever knew… Sam Gold’s remarkable direction of this groundbreaking masterpiece is well worth catching before it ends. Lambeth Local History Fair in Lambeth

The 2018 Lambeth Heritage Festival returns for its sixth year and once again it offers an amazingly varied line-up of more than 90 events that will be taking place across the borough throughout September. Commencing this Saturday, the festival will open with Lambeth’s local history fair at the Omnibus Theatre by Clapam Common. This will be a real treat for anyone who is interested in the history of the area as it will bring together dozens of local societies and local history organisations. The day will also include illustrated talks, tours and walks of the buildings and locality, local publishers’ bookstalls, exhibitions and refreshments.

Chinese Food Festival in London Bridge

This weekend the much anticipated 2018 Chinese Food Festival comes to Potters Fields Park in London Bridge. Take part in the Lee Kum Kee Chinese Food workshop that will be taking place throughout the day and learn more about Hanfu Culture with a special Han workshop with the Han Culture Association. When you’re done with that, tempt yourself with over 15 different food stands all serving up some incredibly delicious Chinese food including dumplings, dimsum and noodles. Join in the fun and celebrate Chinese culture this weekend with family and friends. Crafty Fox Market in Southwark

Crafty Fox Market is a special market that has been supporting independent artists for the last eight years and has welcomed hundreds of designers and artists along the way. Their events are held in unique locations including nightclubs, artists’ studios, community spaces and major city landmarks. Welcoming thousands of visitors through the doors, keen to snap up beautiful products, they can also enjoy a relaxed atmosphere accompanied by DJs and drinks. This weekend, the Crafty Fox Market comes to Mercato Metropolitano (the food lovers paradise) in Southwark. On Saturday afternoon, Italian artist Naomi Vona will also be putting on a free workshop from 11am – 2pm where you will learn to collage and bring new life to old memories.
