What’s On This Weekend: London Bridge City Summer Festival, Lambeth Palace Garden Open Day and Canaletto & The Art of Venice

 

 

London Bridge City Summer Festival

Coming to London Bridge this weekend is the start of the London Bridge City Summer Festival. There will be live theatre, music and DJ’s as well as free fitness and dance classes, cult film screenings and mass karaoke. These are just some of the things that will happen during this festival that spans 3 months. Starting this weekend, the Albert & Friends Instant Circus will be taking over The Scoop to present the premiere of the fantastic new shows that will be great for the whole family. Starting at 2pm on Saturday, this is a show filled with death defying feats, dazzling acrobatics and circus tricks all performed by young people from West London. The Man Who Knows It All at Unicorn Theatre in London Bridge

Is it possible to know everything? If your kids are keen to watch a play this weekend and want something that will puzzle you but also make you laugh, head along to the Unicorn Theatre in London Bridge to see The Man Who Knows It All. It is the story of two performers and a musician who are on a quest to know everything. They soon discover how difficult it is possibly know everything as questions keep appearing. Created by Dutch companies Theater Artemis and Maas Theater, this interactive play also allows curious children to ask questions and steer the direction of the play.

Lambeth Palace Garden Open Day

For the 3rd year running, the Archbishop of Canterbury will be opening the gates of SE1’s largest private garden to the public. Taking place, once a month throughout the summer; tea, coffee and soft drinks will be available on the day as well as plants from the garden, Lambeth Palace honey and some souvenirs. This month, entry fees to the garden will go towards the Waterloo-based charity Christian Aid. If you’re ever wondered what hides behind the garden walls, this is your chance! An Immersive Day of Eco-Poetry in Waterloo

This weekend, Writing On The Wall brings Immersive Eco-Poetry to St. John’s Church in Waterloo. The discussion of the day will be today’s ecological agenda and how it has reached boiling point and the increasing demand for people to start doing what they can to help. It will people to question why is it that we are on earth, for egocentrical reasons or to protect the earth. This will be a day where poetry will be treated as activism and a way for people express their awareness through linguistic expression. There will be workshops, music, talks and sharing. Doors open on Saturday at 9.30am and the event will run until 5.30pm.

The Amazing Bubble Man on Southbank

The sell-out Edinburgh Fringe favourite, Louis Pearl, has been mesmerizing audiences all over the world for more than 30 years with his artistic, magical and scientific bubble tricks. In his performance, which comes to the Southbank this weekend, Louis demonstrates the amazing dynamics of bubbles whilst combining comedy and artistry and getting the audience involved in the show. There will be countless tricks to keep everyone entertained like his famous square bubbles to his rocket bubbles that will keep everyone squealing in amazement. Louis will be performing twice daily over the weekend, so don’t miss out! Only a short walk along the Thames from our Westminster office. Canaletto & The Art of Venice at the Queens Gallery in Westminster

The Royal Collection has the world’s finest group of paintings, drawings and prints by arguably Venice’s most famous painter, Canaletto. Canaletto and the Art of Venice will be showcasing an incredible selection of 18th Century Venetian art including work by Canaletto, Sebastiano, Marco Ricci, Franceso Zuccarelli, Rosalba Carriera and Giovanni Battista Piazetta. Visitors will be shown beautiful views of the Grand Canal, St Mark’s Square and festivals, theatre and masked carnivals; a sight for the sore eyes. Coming to the Queens Gallery at Buckingham Palace this weekend, this is an exhibition not to be missed.
