What’s On This Weekend: All Our False Devices, London’s Rare Book Fair & Open Garden Squares

All Our False Devices Installation in Millbank

As part of the free exhibition series Art Now which is held at Tate Britain, Joanna Piotrowska presents an installation of carefully composed black and white photographs and 16mm films. Her work has been included in recent exhibitions across the globe and has focussed on domestic spaces and mad-made environments. Her photographs and films relate to self-protection, psychophysical relationships and the power dynamics underlying how we relate to each other. If you are near our Westminster office and are interested in looking at properties to rent or properties to buy in the area, feel free to drop in and say hello to our team who would be happy to help.

D-Day: The Soldier’s Story in Chelsea

As part of the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, the National Army Museum in Chelsea are giving you the opportunity to learn about D-Day from the perspective of the survivors, including the teenage Allied conscript and crack German defender, to the French resistance fight. Giles Milton will be exploring a narrative of D-Day shaped through the tales of survivors, laying bare the terror of those trapped in the front line or Operation Overlord and giving voice to those hitherto unheard. Drawn in its entirety from the raw, unvarnished experiences of those who were there, this is a great chance to learn more about an extremely pivotal moment in our country’s history.

Open Garden Squares Weekend in Bermondsey

From the iron-fenced residential parks of west London to the landscaped churchyards of the City, hundreds of garden squares play a vital part in maintaining London’s status as one of Europe’s greenest cities. The Open Garden Squares Weekend is the one of the year when these gardens open their gates to everyone, with more than 230 gardens taking part. Trinity Church Square in Bermondsey is opening its gates to people between 11:00 – 18:00. This garden square was built between 1824 and 1832 on land owned by the Corporation of Trinity House and it maintained by Trinity House, containing one of the oldest outside statues in London, assumed to be Alfred the Great. Not too far from our London Bridge office, drop in and say hello to our team if you’re interested in looking at properties to rent or properties to buy in the area. They’ll also be able to tell you about Trilogy SE1 – the latest contemporary development of apartments that lies adjacent to this beautiful garden square.

Hampshire Food Fare in Borough

Hampshire’s rich food heritage makes the county a hot spot for food lovers, with its varied and often stunning landscapes offering an abundance of flavours. Local food group Hampshire Fare is bringing a slice of that countryside to Borough Market’s Market Hall for a two day showcase of some of the county’s finest food producers. Meet the makers and be tempted to sparkling wine, cheese, watercress, trout, wasabi, rapeseed oil, vinegars, cider, biltong and fish cakes. Winchester Distillery will also be there with bottles of Twisted Nose gin, flavoured with Hampshire watercress – a perfect way to mark World Gin Day on Saturday.

Lambeth Palace Garden Open Day in Lambeth

Every first Friday of every month between April and September, the Lambeth Palace garden opens to the public. This is a great opportunity to discover what lies behind the walls at SE1’s largest private garden whilst supporting a charity on the day as well. This Friday, the Church Urban Fund will be the featured charity, and their primary objective is to free people from the poverty of resources, relationships and identities. Only a short bus ride from our Kennington office, drop in if you’re keen to find out more about properties to rent or properties to buy in the area.
