What’s On This Weekend: Photographic Fair, Kennington Village Fete and National Garden Open Scheme

 

Photographica Fair at Lindley Hall in Victoria

Are you a keen photographer? Or perhaps you like collection old cameras. Well if you haven’t heard about it already, the Photographica Fair will be coming to Lindley Hall in Victoria this Sunday. It is the largest photographic fair of its kind offering around 135 tables with everything you can imagine such as daguerreotypes and images as well as mahogany field cameras and Leicas. You can even pick old new and vintage photographic books and collectibles. This international fair is open to the public for only a small fee of £5 and is a great way for budding photographers to spend their Sunday afternoon! KERB does Alchemy at Southbank Centre

With the Alchemy exhibition in full swing at the Southbank Centre, KERB, the streetfood pioneers have returned to offer people the chance to fill their bellies with delicious spicy delicacies. There will be 30 specialist street-food traders offering amazing food from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and India. There will also be a KERB cocktail and beer bar that will be serving Afghani shakes and Punjabi Pimms as well as tasty masala fries and mango lassi ice cream sandwiches. With so many tasty things to try, you can’t really miss out on it this weekend.

National Garden Open Scheme at Garden Barge Square in London Bridge

Every year, 3,700 gardens open to the public each year as part of the National Garden Scheme which is the most significant charitable funder of nursing charities in the country. So far they have donated over £50 million. They help proud garden owners open their beautiful gardens to the public so that they can share passion as well as raise money through entry fees and tea and cake. There will be a series of 7 floating barge gardens open to the public at Downings Road Moorings that will be connected by walkways and bridges. The gardens will be have an eclectic range of plants for year round seasonal interest. This is a great to spend your Sunday afternoon with the family and donate to charity. Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by Candlelight at Southwark Cathedral in London Bridge

If you’re interested in listening to some live classical music this weekend, take yourself a long to Southwark Cathedral on Saturday evening as the London Concertante will be performing their version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. London Concertante have been made famous for their versatility as a classical ensemble and their ability to make the sound of classical pieces more gritty and perfect for a jazz bar as well as a traditional concert hall. In other words they have brought soul to their performances. This weekend the guest director for the performance will be Ben Norris.

Syria: A Conflict Explored at Imperial War Museum in Kennington

This weekend, take yourself a long to the Imperial War Museum to gain an understanding of the origins, escalations and human impact of the ongoing conflict occurring in Syria. Explore a collection of exhibitions focusing on the confict such as Sergey Ponomarev: A Lens on Syria which will be the first UK exhibition of the award-winning Russian documentary photographer featuring more than 60 breathtaking photographs from two collections called Assad’s Syria and Europae Migration Crisis which are both associated with work with the New York Times. Kennington Village Fete in Cleaver Square in Kennington

This weekend Cleaver Square in Kennington will play host to the 12th annual Kennington Village Fete. Running from 12pm until 4pm, there will be plenty of actitivies for the whole family to take part in as well as lotso of gun games for the little ones. The fete’s famous food court will also be there for you to pick up lots of tasty treats. There will also be performances from The Wednesday Night Jazz Club and The Buzz Tones. The Friends of Kennington Park Association will also have a stall there on the day so you stop by and see what the local community has to offer.
