World Illustration Awards 2017 Exhibition in Southbank

Coming back to Somerset House for its sixth consecutive year is the World Illustrated Awards Exhibition which is in partnership with the Directory of Illustration. This exhibition will be presenting a highlight collection from this year’s shortlist of contemporary illustration which was entered by emerging and established talent to the Association of Illustrators yearly competition. It will showcase original works from advertising posters and packaging as well as children’s books, magazines and murals by artists from the UK, USA, Italy, The Netherlands, South Korea, Hong Kong and Israel. There were however over 2,300 entries from 64 countries. If you’re interesting in seeing creations from the world’s most talented illustrators then this is a great way to spend an afternoon.

LEGO Mini Missions: Ninjas In The City in Lambeth

This bank holiday weekend LEGO will be launching LEGO Mini Missions: Ninjas in the City which is a pop up experience on The Queen’s Walk near the Southbank Centre. Together the LEGO City Police and LEGO NINJAGO will join forces to help fight crime by completing missions, finding clues and solving puzzles before they come face to face with the evil Lord Garmadon. Families will be able to set off together to solve as many missions as they can whilst they race against the clock. This is a great day where the family can work as a team and enjoy this fun, immersive experience. Only a very short bus ride from our Kennington office, drop in and say hello if you’re keen to find out more about properties to rent or properties to buy in the surrounding area.

Vauxhall City Farm in Vauxhall

If you’re thinking of something else to do with the kids this weekend that will get them outdoors, then head to the Vauxhall City Farm. This is a little piece of the countryside right in Central London and is a fun day out that provides visitors and the local community with educational activities, riding lessons and just a peaceful escape from city life. They say that stroking an animal releases endorphins so what better way to get happy then to go a long and meet these adorable animals. From guinea pigs and rabbits to llamas, goats and horses there is some kind of animal for everyone!

Odyssey at The Scoop in London Bridge

Playing at The Scoop’s open-air theatre this summer is The Odyssey presented by Gods and Monsters. This is one of the world’s greatest adventure stories where our hero battles sea monsters, storms, sirens, a cyclops and ancient Greek gods on the way home to the woman he loves. This is a magical way to spend a summer’s evening outdoors and is particularly geared to younger audiences and those who are new to ancient myth, so is another great option for an activity to do with the family. Not far from our London Bridge office, if you’re interested in looking at properties to rent or properties to buy in the area, pop in and have a chat to one of our team.

A Portrait of Southwark & Bermondsey in Southwark

Richard Miller, the artist behind this new exhibition being presented at Southwark Cathedral moved to Bermondsey Street in 1988. He specialises in the creation of abstract, animated and experimental films and he filmed the first of several videos of the area a week after arriving. He later discovered that he had been walking in the steps of his ancestors who were also based on the same street in the 1830’s. His videos and stills show the dramatic change that has happened in the London Bridge area and how new developments have changed the area for good. If you’re interested in discovered what the area looked liked, this exhibition is well worth a visit.

If you’re interested in finding out more about future events in Westminster, London, Kennington and the surrounding areas, feel free to drop by any of our offices – we’ll be glad to provide you with a list. We can arrange viewings of properties for sale and properties for rent within walking distance of some of these popular venues.
