Desperate Housewives show off a solar power revolution

Houses tiled with stylish glass solar roof tiles which mimic ordinary roof tiles

USA billionaire enterpreneur Elon Musk, head of electric car maker Tesla, has borrowed a stage set previously used in the popular soap series Desperate Housewives to showcase his innovative solar energy solution. In partnership with SolarCity (a company run by two of Musk's cousins), Tesla has come up with a green energy solution that promises consumers a beautiful, affordable and seamlessly integrated product that will not only run domestic heating and appliances, but will also power a car.

To illustrate his point, Musk arranged for houses in "Wisteria Lane" (the famously named street of the series) to be tiled with his next generation solar roof tiles. Made of glass and smaller than any conventional solar roof panel, Musk's panels can be manufactured in a range of styles to mimic traditional roof tiles. They also last longer and offer better insulation than ordinary tiles.

The rollout of the product in the US has been promised for next summer, and here at Daniel Cobb we are following the developments with interest. Thanks to Musk's publicity stunt on the Desperate Housewives set, many London property owners may also soon be desperate to use these stylish solar tiles. If you'd like to view some exceptional properties for sale where these tiles would look fantastic, contact us at any of our London offices. We'd be delighted to show you around.
