A big step forward for Vauxhall station

Improvements to Vauxhall station is one of several reasons why Vauxhall property is sought-after

Vauxhall has now joined the ranks of the 70 London Underground stations able to offer step-free access to travellers. Access to and from the Victoria line tunnels was previously via escalators and stairs, but now two new lifts have been installed at the station. This is part of a wider refurbishment that has included improvements to the ticket office, subways and stairways. The improved facilities at Vauxhall bus station will allow more passengers needing level access to transfer from a bus to a train, opening up many more journeys to people who cannot manage steps.

Vauxhall is one of the Mayor's 33 key opportunity areas of London and the current upgrade project is the first phase of Transport for London's (TfL) larger plan to invest in transport projects to encourage economic growth. The project has even been cheaper than expected. After initial cost estimates of 45m, contractors Bechtel were able to reduce the amount by 9m, thanks to cheaper construction methods that have also proved to be more eco-friendly.

This is part of a vast programme of improvements to the area that have made Vauxhall an even more vibrant and interesting place to live. If you would like to view Vauxhall property to rent or buy, call us today.

"Vauxhall bus station is the second busiest in London, so step-free access here means customers can interchange from buses on to the Tube, opening up many more journeys across the Capital for those who need level access."
