Trilogy SE1 Bringing music to your ears...

Imagine waking up to the sound of beautiful music drifting through your window. That can become a reality with the new development Trilogy SE1 which has just launched adjacent to Southwark’s historic Trinity Village.

Trinity Village is home to The Henry Wood Hall. Originally the Holy Trinity parish church, this marvellous building was designed by Francis Bedford, dating back to 1824. Since 1975, the Grade II listed building has been London’s first purpose-built home for orchestral rehearsals. To convince people of the disused church’s unorthodox potential, in 1972, the London Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestras held a full-scale rehearsal in the venue. Players sat on old church chairs and had to wear hard hats to safeguard against falling plaster. They played a programme of Bach, Brahms, Elgar, Ravel and Haydn, whilst a team of acoustic and recording engineers carried out tests.

Following major renovations, the Henry Wood Halls was opened in June 1975 and has been a hub of musical activity ever since! Providing many of the world’s finest musicians and vocalists with a superb rehearsal and recording space, you never know what aural delights you might be able to enjoy from outside it’s walls.

The hall was named after Sir Henry Wood after receiving a substantial donation from the Henry Wood Fun which was set up to rebuild the blitzed Queen’s Hall. Since it’s reopening, visiting orchestras like the St. Petersburg Philharmonic hand the Japan Philarmonic have recorded here and rehearsed in the hall as well as a long list of famous singers including some of the greatest names of the second half of the 20th Century.
