Ruby Wax: We Need To Talk About Mental Health in Westminster

The famous comedian Ruby Wax is mostly known for her career working for BBC and Channel 4 spanning 25 years as well as her multiple one-woman stand up shows. What you might not know about her is that she has also written two bestselling books about mindfulness. As a studied psychotherapist and mental health campaigner, Ruby hopes to bring a bigger focus to mental health awareness and to encourage people to get rid of the stigma about discussing it. This Friday she will be hosting her first Funzing Talk at the Emmanuel Centre and will be sharing her knowledge from her degree in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Prudential RideLondon in Whitehall

This weekend, Prudential RideLondon will once again be taking over London and parts of Surrey for the sixth year running. Developed by the Mayor of London and his agencies in 2013, Prudential RideLondon has become the world’s largest festival of cycling with more than 100,000 cyclists taking part. There is no other closed-road event like it that combines the fun and accessible element of a free family ride in central London with also the excitement of watching the world’s best professional cyclists race in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic. London will become one large pedestrian zone for you to enjoy in this marvelous weather. Saturday is FreeCycle day where anyone can take part in cycling through London on the 8-mile traffic free circuit and fun way to spend the day with the family – but remember to drink plenty of water as it is set to be another scorcher!

It’s A Vegan Ting in Waterloo

London based events company BLAX-UK has teamed up with Shout About London to host It’s a Vegan Ting all day vegan food market on Leake Street in Waterloo this Saturday. Located in the infamous “Banksy” tunnel that has previously played host to lots of big names and events, 30 stalls will be serving up some of the best vegan treats that London has to offer as well as a host of amazing DJ’s playing some great music as a backdrop for what is set to be a fun day. Starting at midday and running late into the night, head along to London Waterloo’s only vegan market, whether you are vegan or not as you will be pleasantly surprised by the treats on offer. Only a very short bus ride from our Kennington office, drop in if you’re keen to find out more about properties to rent or properties to buy in the area.

Uniqlo Tate Lates on Bankside

On the last Friday of every month, the Tate Modern and Uniqlo host Uniqlo Tate Lates. This is an opportunity to see the Tate Modern in a totally different light, and invites you to find emerging and established DJs selected by NTS Radio, alongside world-class exhibitions, pop-up talks and hands-on workshops. It’s a great to spend your Friday evening after work, enjoying the space, the music, the views and the delicious food and drink on offer. This month takes inspiration from the exhibition Shape of Light where you will be able to enjoy a vibrant mix of art, film, workshops, talks and delicious street food. With photographic missions to take part in, an independent book fair to peruse and live abstract drawings to marvel at, there are so many things to keep you entertained this Friday evening.

Opera In The Square in London Bridge

This Sunday, Trinity Square Residents Association in London Bridge brings you an afternoon of opera favourites by a quartest of splendid singers. Head along to Opera In The Square with your picnic basket and chairs between 2pm and 5pm where there will be sessions of 30 minutes from each of the four singers. Expect to be blown away by the talent from mezzo soprano Melanie Sanders, soprano Caroline Foulkes, tenor Daniel Joy and baritone Tom Stoddart. Entry if free on the day, all you have to do is bring yourself, your friends and some refreshments!
