Cindy Sherman Exhibition in Trafalgar Square

A major new retrospective of Cindy Sherman is taking place at the National Portrait Gallery until September. Exploring the development of her work from the mid-1970’s to the present day, the exhibition will feature around 150 works from international public and private collections, as well as new work never before displayed in a public gallery. Focussing on the manipulation of her own appearance and her deployment of material derived from a range of cultural sources, including film, advertising and fashion, the exhibition will explore the tension between façade and identity. Weavers Of The Clouds Exhibition in Bermondsey

Weaver of the Clouds: Textile Arts of Peru is the latest display on at the Fashion & Textile Museum on Bermondsey Street. Showcasing the work of 17 Peruvian artists, this exhibition explores the processes and practices of both historic and contemporary Peruvian costume via garments, textiles, photographs, tools, illustrations and paintings, dating from pre-Hispanic to present day. Works will include pieces by contemporary Peruvian fashion designers Meche Correa and Chiara Macchievello, photographs by Sebastian Castaneda Vita, Marta Tucci and Toni Frissell, Peruvian-inspired designs from Vivienne Westwood and Naeem Khan and a broad selection of both traditional and contemporary Peruvian art, produced in a multitude of fascinating mediums. Peter Gynt Play on Southbank

The Olivier Theatre plays host to a reproduction of Henrik Ibsen’s classic Peter Gynt. Reinvented for the 21st Century as a riotous musical adventure by David Hare, this outrageous modern myth tells the story of Peter Gynt. Peter is searching for himself. Travelling from the mountains of Scotland to the pool-sides of Florisa, he’ll meet talking hyena’s, two-heade trolls and even an Egyptian Sphinx. But will his journey be all that he hoped for? Kiss My Genders Exhibition on Southbank

Kiss My Genders is a group exhibition celebrating more than 30 international artists who work explores and engages with gender identity. Spanning the past 50 years, Kiss My Genders brings together over 100 artworks by artists from around the world who employ a vast range of approaches to articulate and engage with gender fluidity, as well as with non-binary, trans and intersex identities. Working across photography, painting, sculpture, installation and video, many of these artists in this exhibition move beyond a conventional understanding of the body, and in doing so open up new possibilities for gender, beauty and representations of the human form.
